These are the primary organizations that can provide financial support for orthotics and custom shoes.
Extended Health Benefits
Most extended health benefit plans include coverage for custom foot orthotics. Check with your provider to ensure coverage amounts. A prescription is required for coverage.
Benefit is provided to RCMP, CAF, and veterans through Medavie Blue Cross. Coverage is available for custom-made footwear and shoe modifications.
Custom-made footwear and shoe elevations are covered by the province of Alberta if no other coverage is available to you, and the need exists. Permanent deformities must be present to qualify.
Non-Insured Health Benefits provides coverage of custom foot orthotics, custom-made footwear, and shoe modifications for First Nations and Inuit.
